Druids Are The Most Versatile Class - Change My Mind

They're not just tree-hugging, animal lovers, druids can be anything they want to be...

So I have a theory. I reckon that you could replace almost any adventurer in a standard party with a druid and they’d do just as good a job, if not better. Hear me out…

Need a healer? Not a problem! Druids have access to some of the same spells as clerics, including everyone’s favourites: Healing Word and Cure Wounds. Throw in the right tool proficiency and your druid could even be making their own healing potions!

Need a ranged fighter? Easy. Druids have proficiency with a wide range of weapons, including darts, javelins, and slings. Give them a high Dexterity score and they’re good to go!

Need a party tank? Pfft, move over barbarians. Druids come with a handy ability called Wild Shape, which allows them to shape shift into certain animals twice a day for a limited amount of time. While in this shape, they adopt the physical attributes of the creature (including its HP), whilst maintaining their mental stats, AND when they revert back to their usual form (either through taking too much damage or by choice) their own HP is unaffected! If you choose your animal forms wisely, druids are a literal bag of hit points!

Need a heavy damage dealer? Well, we’ve got teeth, claws, and weapons, too! As mentioned, druids have proficiency with a wide range of weapons, including some martial weapons like scimitars - not too shabby! Plus, have you seen the damage a bear can dish out? The right druid can shift into a bear from as early as 2nd level!

This versatility is one of the reasons why druids are one of my favourite classes to play - plus, I mean, who doesn’t love animals?

Let me know what you think in the comments! Do you agree? Are druids a high-powered all-rounder, or do you prefer another class?
